In 1981 enrollment at the College of DuPage was 26,290. By spring of 1992 the enrollment had mushroomed to 34,200 and was still climbing. The Board of Trustees hired LZT to design an addition to the school's Student Resource Center. Not only was space needed but technology was moving at a pace that the current facility was unable to accommodate.
Included in the addition are: 40,000 additional feet for the LRC, 25,000 sq. ft. for a college bookstore, 30,000 sq. ft. on the third floor for future educational space, a 6,500 sq. ft. community meeting room and student activity space, including room for COD's 35 clubs and organizations, student government and activities, a student lounge, and game room.
Completion of the addition and advancements in technology, such as video conferencing and a fiber optics data network, should allow the college to absorb any future educational and enrollment demands. |
