National Center for Supercomputing Applications
University of Illinois
Champaign-Urbana, Illinois
The NCSA building is the north anchor of the new technology quad at the UIUC. The Siebel Center for Computer Science is the south anchor. The NCSA building is a 4 story facility with a mix of specialized labs and offices.
The specialized labs include the Technology Demonstration Lab, with the 13'x30' "tiled" video wall. The CAVE is three story lab with a six sided virtual reality projection module effectively suspended in the middle. Supporting these functions and the technology development mission of the Center are virtual reality labs, audio/video suites, public access instructional labs, a conference center and offices for up to 400 staff.
The siting of NCSA accounts for future additions to the north and east. The east addition will complete the enclosure of the quad with the feature courtyard. |
