Our K-12 services include facilities assessments, life safety surveys & amendments, referendum planning, technology design and educational planning & programming.

We provided complete design services for this new, 117,500 SF public high school. The project called for a student capacity of 450 with a core facility for 600. The school includes a 600-seat performing arts center, four new science labs and a 1,800-seat gymnasium. We worked with the school board, administration, school staff and community via public planning sessions to reach a successful referendum. IASB Merit Award.

This new 94,000 SF, 450-student middle school was designed to address growth and has proven to be a favorite place for community events including Sunday worship services. The 1,700-seat gymnasium is a favorite for hosting regional basketball tournaments. Monticello has a rich history and there was a strong desire that the building be an architectural solution and place of community pride.

A/E design services were provided for this addition (15k SF)/renovation (22k SF). The existing band and choral areas were expanded, and a new cafeteria and 3 new elevators were added. The addition was designed to connect and become the central gathering place between 3 buildings from 3 different decades. Restoring the historic façade was a significant concern. The final solution embodied the historic façade as a prime interior feature.

We provided complete architectural and structural engineering design services for this new, 79,520 SF, K-5 school. The project included 22 traditional classrooms; two kindergarten classrooms; six special education classrooms; art rooms, choral and instrumental music; a computer room; Instructional Materials Center; a gymnasium with stage; and a cafeteria/food prep area. IASB Award of Merit for Excellence.

We served as architect of record on the A/E team selected to provide a new elementary school prototype. Workshops were held with the administration and staff to create a new Education Spec to establish the standard for a new Middle School. A major renovation/addition of Sugar Creek Elementary School was completed to bring it up to the new prototype standard. Sustainable features included a geo-exchange mechanical system.

As the architect of record and partner of the A/E design team, we collaborated through public workshops with the community, staff and local leadership to redefine what a school should be. We researched the best in "Education Practice" in the world and created a solution embodying all of these principals and available technologies in the final built solution. The new facility was constructed to serve the entire community 7 days a week and is a complete departure from the "Traditional School".

We provided complete architectural and structural engineering design for this addition and renovation project that increased student capacity to 1,800. Project added 26 classrooms, 11 science labs, a gymnasium, indoor running track, locker rooms, expanded library, larger cafeteria, support spaces, and student commons. Biggest challenge of the project was constructing the building with students in attendance. IASB Honorable Mention Award.

We provided architectural services for this new, 190,000 square-foot middle school. Following passage of the referendum, the timeframe from design to completion of the construction documents for bidding was just 17 weeks. The project included 3 gymnasiums, locker rooms for 1,000 students, cafeteria, 50 classrooms, 8 science labs, computer rooms, library, band, orchestra and choral rooms with adjacent practice rooms, wood shop, and a technical education wing.

We designed this new, 102,000 SF K-8 arts magnet school. Requirements included 29 classrooms and two Special Education classrooms; media center/library; art, music, computer rooms, and science labs for both K-5 and grades 6-8; gymnasium with two full-size basketball courts and locker rooms; auditorium; dressing rooms, toilets and scenery shop; dance practice room; serving kitchen; administrative offices; and orchestra classrooms.
